Hi Refugees - Please be in prayer for us as we travel with 17 students to the Acquire the Fire Youth Confernece in Kansas City this afternoon. We leave at 1pm. The students are VERY excited about this trip -- and we have a great team of 7 brave adults!

Refuge Youth are heading to Acquire the Fire in Kansas City this weekend (Feb 19-20, 2010). I am so excited to have a large group of students AND adults traveling together -- 25 of us in all!

Refuge Opening House!

On Saturday, September 26, we will have an "Open House / Meet 'n Greet" event at the Refuge. The event takes place from 6pm - 8pm. It's free and we will be serving up burgers and dogs.

God's Masterpiece

Refuge Youth and Family Worship Center, which is located at 919 W. Liberty, now opens doors at 3:30pm on Wednesdays for students.

The Whisper in the Static

Back in the day, before satellites, cable and YouTube, we had these things called TV Antennas. They were the gateway to the world of TV entertainment! There were 'rabbit ear' antennas that plugged into the back of the TV, but we had a huge antenna tower reaching 20-30 feet into the air. And with all of that reception power, we enjoyed a huge assortment of TV shows on ALL THREE TV channels! Oh yeah!

Peace is a tough topic to wrap my brain around. We talk about peace a lot, and we really would prefer peace -- but often what we generate from our lives is chaos, fatigue, dis-organization, frustrations, and all those things that would be the opposite of peace.

Oh yes, we love to talk about God's grace and forgiveness. And, rightfully so -- they are awesome, beyond understanding, and limitless. But if we celebrate the wonders of grace and forgiveness, we MUST also walk in repentance.

We get so caught up in the so-called 'big picture' -- those big accomplishments in life that take weeks, months or years -- that we forget that God is waiting for us in the 'details.' He expects obedience, prayer and worship on an hourly basis. We lose sight of that, then the 'big picture' really doesn't matter much.
